The Tyra Banks Show dedicated the entire show to a certain Ms. Beyonce yesterday. As ever, with Tyra's wacky nature, the interview (above) was great. Kudos to Tyra for getting out an awesome interview from Bouncy; they were starting to get kinda samey. You can catch the 'Single Ladies' performance below - see if you can spot anyone familiar (Hint: Get Me Bodied - "Snap for the Kids" LMAO):

Blast from the past, no doubt LOL. Beyonce, Jonte and co nailed it LOL.

The season premiere of the Tyra Banks Show aired yesterday, with the supermodel-turned talk show host addressing the issue of skin bleaching in the black community. Check out Tyra talking about one of the show's guests - a woman who bleaches the skin of her 3 young children -while doing the promo rounds for the show. Check it out:

It's such a shame that in this day and age, such closed minded notions of what beauty/good looks mean are still prevalent. SMH...

America's Next Top Model To Feature TransgengerThe latest cycle of Tyra Bank's model search show America's Next Top Model is set to feature a transgender hopeful. Check out the report via US Weekly below:
One of the 14 girls who will compete on the new season of America’s Next Top Model – which returns to The CW on September 3 – is transgender. “My cards were dealt differently,” Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly exclusively in its new issue, on newsstands now. Hailing from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isis identifies herself as “a woman born physically male.”

Will she be a role model? “I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams,” she tells Us.The inclusion of Isis is being hailed by GLAAD president Neil Giuliano as “an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television. “We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible,” Giuliano said.
Each to their own, I guess. I must say, though, that I find it real apt that, amid talk of the show becoming stale and boring, such a non-conventional contestant has been added into the mix. Hmm...

Tyra Covers The New York Times Supermodel turned media mogul Tyra Banks appears on the June 1st cover of The New York Times Magazine. In her feature, the talk show host describes herself in as a mixture of Oprah Winfrey with a dash of Martha Stewart thrown in.

Speaking on Tyra, NYT staff writer says: “Her brand, like her trademark ‘tough but still smiling’ smile, is consistent in all her shows: serious about the frivolous; empathetic and empowering, and always, always aimed at young women, across all races. It’s girly TV with a punch”.

Cool cover. It's great to see Tyra garnering so much recognition outside of the modelling world. It goes to show that sky really is the limit. More power to her.

Tyra Set To Leave 'America's Next Top Model'Word has it that Tyra Banks is set to leave America's Next Top Model to concentrate on her popular talk show. Friction with the show's co-host is being cited, by reports, as the reason for Banks' rumored departure:

OK! magazine reports that Banks isn’t getting along with photo shoot creative director Jay Manuel, and her days on the show could be numbered. “It’s gotten so bad that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told OK! magazine. The selective silent treatment isn’t limited to Manuel, either. “Tyra barely interacts with the contestants and only wants to show up on judging day,” the source told the magazine.

Though I don't tend to catch much of the show, I more often than not hear that it's now past its sell-by date. Perhaps Tyra knows this too.

Any thoughts?

Tyra Covers Entertainment WeeklySupermodel turned chat show host, Tyra Banks appears on the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. Check out an extract from the feature, which can be read in full by clicking here, below:
Banks considers herself more akin to Martha Stewart and Donald Trump. To that end, her latest development is Bankable Enterprises, created to move the mini-mogul into arenas like real estate…

”There’s a fear I have with success in the business world,” she admits. ”People have this image of women, especially in business — that they have to be ballbusters, and that’s so not what I am.” That said, the woman whose company logo features a shiny bank vault is not going to stop growing her media empire. ”I’m not afraid of wanting money at all,” she says. ”Money will give me more power to do things that are truer to my spirit than what I’m already doing.” Still, she adds, ”I don’t think I’ll always be on television. I don’t know whether it’s 10 or 20 years, but I know it won’t be when I’m 60.”
More power to her.

Supermodel-turned talk show host Tyra Banks features on the cover of the February issue of Essence magazine. Banks speaks on a number of things, including her feeling worry that she's yet to be a wife or mother:

“I’d go to work and women would be crying in my arms on the talk show. But then I’d go home and put my key in my door and … nothing: no friends, no husband, no children. I feel so full when I’m at work but so empty when I come home.” {Source}
