Rapper Jay-Z was interviewed by the UK's Tim Westwood last night to promote his eagerly awaited 'Blueprint 3' LP. While speaking to Westwood, Jay-Z was finally questioned about the much talked about rumour of him using his pulling power to have Chris Brown removed from the list of performers at the travesty that was this year's BET Awards. Jigga, real name Shawn Carter, vehemently denied the claim and offered his take on Chris Brown's recent apology.

Also, giving his reaction to The Game's recent 'anti-Jay'-Z campaign, Jay labelled the former G-Unit member "a groupie". Ouch.

Billboard Chart Update; The Game & Solange There's no doubt many were checking to see where The Game's "final" LP (erm...yeh) 'LAX' and Solange's sophomore effort 'Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams) would chart, following their releases last week. Peep the report from MTV below for the goods:
The Game's latest enters the chart at #2, selling more than 238,000 copies; his previous efforts sold significantly better. His 2005 LP The Documentary entered the chart on top with 587,000 scans, while the 2006 follow-up, Doctor's Advocate, sold more than 358,000 units, to open at #1. Rockers Slip Knot narrowly clinched the top spot selling through 240,000 copies of All Hope Is Gone.

A total of 23 new releases crack the top 200, with two others debuting in the top 10. The Now That's What I Call Country compilation enters at #7 with 50,000 scans, and Solange Knowles' Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams bows at #9 with 46,000 sold.
Granted tongues will no doubt be wagging about sales, comparisons and whatnot, I think both artists have performed well considering. Put simply music doesn't sell the way it used to, so both debuts are respectable all the same.

With The Game's latest effort 'L.A.X having finally hit stores this week, the Compton-bred rapper performed current single 'Dope Boys', along with Travis Barker, on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show last night. The track is one of my favourites from the LP, so it's good to see it being done justice live. Good stuff.

The video for 'Dope Boys', the official second single to be lifted from The Game's forthcoming 'L.A.X' album premiered today. Though the video is standard-fare, the song -which features Travis Barker- goes harder than hard. IMO, the Compton bred MC is really coming with his 'A' game this go round, further silencing the naysayers who believed he couldn't deliver the goods post G-Unit. Good stuff.

The Game - 'My Life (ft. Lil' Wayne)'Check out this new cut from The Game's still unreleased 'L.A.X' LP titled 'My Life'. Featuring man of the moment Lil' Wayne, the mid-tempo, piano-driven track -said to be a future single- is solid in its own right, yet notable more so for certain lyrics:

A shot at Eminem?:
"All the pictures of me and Em, I burned them"

Reaches out to Kanye over mother's passing:
"Since you helped me sell my dream, we can share my mama now".
All in all, a great track.

Hit or Miss?

The Game performed his current single 'Game's Pain' on BET's 106 & Park yesterday, along with Keyshia Cole. Check out their showing below:

I really liking the song and felt they did a pretty good job of it live. Random tidbit: Keyshia was looking and sounding a lot better than she has in a while.

The Game's new album 'L.A.X' hits stores July 22nd.

The video for The Game's latest single 'Game's Pain', featuring R&B songstress Keyshia Cole, premiered on BET today. I'm really feeling both the song and the accompanying vid too. 'Game's Pain' is the first single to be lifted from the California rapper's forthcoming album 'L.A.X'(due July 1st) via Interscope.

The Game's 60 Day Sentence Over In 8 Days According to TMZ, rapper The Game has been released from prison after serving just 8 days of his 60 day sentence:
The rapper -- real name Jayceon Taylor -- walked out of Twin Towers Correctional Facility, according to his lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, after serving less than a fifth of his sentence for pleading no contest to a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone.

A mess, if there ever was one. This ridiculousness tops Paris Hilton's stint in the slammer - the heiress at least served 22 days of her 45 day sentence last year. These artists won't stop acting up, if the system will only give a 'slap on the wrist'.

The Game Begins Jail Sentence Rapper The Game, today, began serving his 60 day prison term for weapon possession:
The Game finally showed up to Twin Towers to serve his weapons-possession sentence, and we’ve learned that he’ll be a “keep away” while inside, meaning that he’ll be segregated from the general population while in the joint. {Source}
I'm still waiting for one of these celebs to get a legit sentence and not a slap on the wrist. We all know, had it been a member of the public, the sentence would have been longer.

The Game Sentenced To 60 Days In JailFollowing the news earlier this month that rapper The Game will serve time in the slammer on gun charges, BBC News reports he was, today, handed his sentence:

US rapper The Game has been jailed for 60 days after he admitted possessing a gun at a basketball game at a school. The Game - real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor - was also given 150 hours of community service and ordered to spend three years on probation.
Considering it was previously reported he'd be serving 4 months, I think he got off lightly. Saying that, what's up with these artists and abiding by the law. SMH...

The Game Given Four Month Jail TermThe Game has struck a plea deal with prosecutors in his assault/weapons possession case, opting to serve four months in the slammer instead of going to court. Speaking to 'Monsta Magazine', the West Coast rapper, who maintains his innocence, explains the reason for his decision:

"The crazy part about this is that I’ve had guns before in my life. But this time I didn’t have a gun. And because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I’m in a predicament where I’m asking ‘do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial so who knows what jury’s gonna come in and say I’m guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they’re trying to give me for no reason?”
{Source}

Go to jail for something you didn't do? I'm not buying that. IMO, he either did it or is just plain dumb.

The Game & Dr Dre Reunite On New LP According to MTV.com, The Game and former mentor Dr Dre are to reunite on the former G-Unit rapper's new album 'LAX' - which is apparently 80% completed:
“[Dr. Dre] dropped some stuff off,” Game’s DJ Nu Jerzey Devil said. “But I’m not sure if Game did anything to them yet.” Game has been recording in Miami and Los Angeles and should be ready to release LAX this spring.
Dre joins the already impressive line-up of producers set to feature on the project, including Scott Storch and Cool & Dre. This will mark the first time The Game and Dre have worked together since the rapper's much-publicized departure from G-Unit, following the release of his debut album 'The Documentary'. Dre was noticeably absent from Game's sophomore effort, ironically titled 'Doctors Advocate' amid rumors that he had sided with 50 Cent & G-Unit.
